Ruth Olufunke Oyewole (Nee Arogbo) was born on the 7th of April, 1966 into the family of Pa P.E. Odimayo of Arogbo dynasty in Ode Aye, Ikaleland and Madam Mary Arogbo (Nee Akinlonu of Ondo).

She attended Eyaenugie Primary School, Benin City between 1972 and 1978 after which she proceeded to Imueguero Teacher Training College, Benin where she obtained the Teacher’s Grade II certificate in 1983. Thereafter, she proceeded to the College of Education, Ekiadolor, Benin and obtained the National Certificate of Education in 1989.
Funke was a goal getter; her desire to further her education led her to gain admission into the University of Benin, Benin where she graduated with a degree of B.Ed (Sc.) in Chemistry in 1992. In 2006, she also obtained the degree of Masters in Counseling Psychology (Career Counseling) from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan.
After her university education in 1992, she was posted to Oyo State for the mandatory National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) and served in Ibadan. She met her future husband whilst they both worked at the Government College, Apata, Ibadan. She got married in the year 1995 to David Olugbade Oyewole J.P.
She joined the Nigerian Immigration Service in 1993, where she rose steadily through the ranks from an Assistant Superintendent to Chief Superintendent of Immigration by 2016.
Funke, until her death, was a Chief Superintendent of Immigration (HRM) in the Oyo State Command of the Nigerian Immigration services.
She was a committed Christian, she served as the Vice-President of the Fountain of Hope Society, All Souls Church Bodija, Ibadan and also served on the Parish Church Council (PCC) as a two-time Secretary. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Society of the Cathedral of St' James the Great, Oke-Bola, Ibadan and was a life member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship (FGBMFI) International-Nigeria; where she was awarded the Miner Arganbright Partner plague in 2014.
She was a committed member of the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN).
She was a dutiful wife, loving mother and an exceptional human being.
She was survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, aged-parents, brothers, sisters, in-laws, several nieces and nephews.
